Ellie Zhou Ballet Studio in PJ
Ellie Zhou Ballet Studio has nearing 25 years of establishment in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Its principal, Ms Ellie and artistic director Zhou are widely acknowledged in dance circle as among the most experienced and acclaimed dancers and tutors in Malaysia. Ellie hails from the Royal Ballet School of London while Zhou was lead dancer from the Beijing Dance Academy, both regarded as the mecca of Classical Ballet in the dance world.
Till this day, many of Malaysia’s certified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teachers continue to receive dance classes under the guidance of Zhou. Ms Ellie, together with her team of RAD tutors, remains committed to impart the highest standard of training to young children.
Zhou Gui Xin
Zhou Gui Xin is a Chinese-born prodigy, unparalled not only in dance but in cheoreography and poetry, an artiste of distinction. At the age of 17, he joined Beijing Dance Academy , and became the youngest member to be promoted to principal dancer within a year. Zhou is acclaimed not only in his homeland, China but throughout Europe. Arts critic have honoured him with the title “Prince of Dance of the East. In 1990, he was the first ever-male dancer in China to stage his own solo performance on national broadcast throughout the country. In recognition for his achievements, Zhou has been listed in the distinguished “Contemporary Record of China’s famous people” and “Dictionary of the Arts”
Ellie began her dance training at the age of nine. She received her Arts Educational training from Tring Park School of the Performing Arts in UK where she completed an integrated program of academic studies and trained for a career in the professional theatre. In 1983, Ellie was accepted into the prestigious Royal Ballet School of London and completed the Professional Dancer Course.
She joined Bielefeld Dance Company in Germany from 1985-87 and later became a founder member of the Singapore Dance Theatre. She took on lead roles in major ballet such as the ‘Nutcraker”, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Don Quixote’. Ellie met Zhou at Singapore Dance Theatre and together they founded Ellie Zhou Ballet Studio based in Petaling Jaya Malaysia.
